The hottest new cultural venue in Los Angeles is this rock:
It's a slab of concrete that juts out in the L.A. River, right near the Frogtown Brewery Taproom. Something is often happening on it.
Here's a film crew shooting a scene on the rock.
Here's a band in the process of setting up for a performance on the rock.
Here's some kind of miniature town set up on the rock. I think those are puppets? Enhance!
Other things I've seen on the rock:
A full dinner party, around a dining room table, with seating for eight.
A lecture on ecology.
Teens, hanging out.
Someone practicing saxophone solos.
Someone practicing bagpipes.
Oil painters at easels, painting landscapes.
Fashion shoots.
Time has cracked off two large pieces of the concrete slab, and the river has eroded them to look like natural boulders. Water gurgles by, very satisfyingly, like a normal river. The space offers approximately two hundred square feet of flat, usable, surface. Booking the rock is first come, first served. The venue fee is gratis. Parking is abundant on Gilroy and Ripple. The rock is very under-the-radar right now.
Why not host your next event on this rock?
